Week 3 results

Lord Drixtol, unable to reach his Astartes allies, took to the field of battle alone, facing no less than the Greenskin Horde and the TechnoRabble of Lord Iniherit, forcing both commanders to move further from the capital, and to the less populous outer areas.

All appears well in hand, but where have the Astartes gone?  Have they forsaken their oaths?

Week 3 Forces disarrayed

“Jarl, we have found something.” The Wolf Scout Pack Leader said as he stalked into Bulveye’s tent.

“Mikail, if anyone other than you entered my tent like that, I would hang their pelt from my belt……What have you found old friend?” Bulveye turned to Mikail, looking very grim.

“It appears to be some sort of archeotech device, Bulveye.  The enemy is cunning and, although we skirmish and do a fair amount of damage, no remains are ever left.  This is the only thing we have found…..Be wary – it makes my hair stand on end…..” Mikail said as he sat the cube down on Bulveye’s table.

“Call lord Gerrick and the Iron Priest Rjol to my tent.” Bulveye said as he walked around the table.

“Aye Lord” Mikail replied as he slipped out of the hab tent.

Lord Bulveye poked a very meager finger towards the blue and silver cube when there was a intense pulse of blue white light.

Elsewhere…….

--Gene Sequence locked, my Liege.  The wolflings have been subjugated to a pocket dimension.  You are free to hunt them at will—Lord Hateksut let out a mechanical laugh.  –Flesh creatures….haven’t they heard that curiosity killed the Bast?--

Back on Protasia Primus

“Lord Drixtol?” the vox officer called.  “We are unable to raise either Captain Rikhen or Lord Bulveye via the vox.”

“Keep trying…..They may be lacking in performance, but an Astartes would never shirk from their duty.” Drixtol replied, his hands gripping the edge of his holomap table. “We must capitalize on the momentum we have gathered – prepare my forces for combat!”

Dangers within and without........

Iron gray ceramite boots stomped down the narrow ferrocrete hallway towards the Imperial Ops Center.

Lord Gerrick ducked his head as he and Lord Bulveye entered the command center. "Wolves answer your summons, Inquistior," Bulveye growled as Inquisitor Acoloyte Drixtol turned to face the two Space Wolves.

"We still await Captain Rikhen, or at least what is left of him." Drixtol drawled as he turned his back on the two waiting wolves.  As he finished turning, another faint sound of footfalls sounded as Rikhen stooped through the narrow doorway. "The Emperor calls, and the Raptors answer," Rikhen said as he made the sign of the Aquila to the Inquisitors back.

"You performance of late has been abysmal, you call yourselves Astartes?" Drixtol barked from the vox console. "For every foot my troops gain, you lose a yard.  What is your answer for this?"

Bulveye spat on the ground behind Drixtol "The foe is determined.....we are as tide against a cliff, slowly whittling away at the defenses, but our attacks are confounded.  For every one of the metal devils we send to the gray, another takes its place.  It's not hard to knock them down, it's getting them to stay down that is the trick."

"The kine.......the Greenskins are a determined foe also my lord inquisitor" Rikhen answered in a whisper.  "They do not rise, but their numbers are great. Many Raptors have rang the Great Bell in service to the Emperor, yet the greenskin will not capitulate."

"Then we must redouble our efforts, so this capital city does not fall.  We shall not shirk in the face of our duty brothers......oh yes, we are brothers in this battle.  He who sheds his blood with me this day shall forever be my brother.  Get out there and crush the enemies of mankind......for they are surely ready to do that to us."  Drixtol never once turned to look at the Astartes, but they knew that they had been dismissed.

As the exchange ends, one of the vox operators slowly turns his head back to his vox, only slightly aware that the vox had been left open to an undisclosed frequency. Lord Hateksut send a pulse to his crypteks......

--Open a pulse synaptic channel to Iniherit, the vermin's forces are in disarray, just as he predicted. --

--Lord Iniherit, is is just as your oracle divined, the enemy forces are in disorder. Only a short time now until the final push can be orchestrated.  Are we sure that the greenskins can be counted on to do what we want?--

--My dear Hateksut, of course they can....The Greenskin menace has countered Lord Imhotek time and time again.....but one thing can be counted on, when the battles commence, the greenskin horde will fall on whatever army is in it's path.....it would be wise to be sure that it is not our forces in that situation, agreed?--

--Agreed Iniherit. I will have my flesh slave send altered coordinates to the giants commanders to confound them, lead them into a greenskin trap.  For the Dynasty!--

--For the Dynasty indeed.--

The vox operators blood shot eyes blinked twice and started voxing altered coordinates to the Astartes, raging behind his uncontrollable actions for the carnage he was about to cause........

Rear Assault

Captain Rikhen gripped his bolter, turning to gun down a fresh wave of ork boyz as they crested the small hill to the rear of the Raptors encampment.

"Lord, we are running short of ammunition," Sergeant Balkis voxed. "We are applying fire discipline, but the kine are too numerous."

"Watch your tone Sergeant," Rikhen responded. "Disrespect of the enemy is an affront to the God Emperor.  They are numerous, but they are not Astartes.  Deploy your scout assault troops, the Raptor's Claw and I will deploy to support them.  We will cut the heart from the green-skin scum with a decisive blow."

As the sergeants worked to rapidly redeploy their squads, shouts are heard, as well as a cacophony of machine sounds.......Defkkoptas have hit the assault squads.  Rikhen gathers his Vanguard, the Raven's Claw and ascend to the heavens on wings of fire.

"Lord, we can hold no longer.  There are 2 neophytes and myself remaining. We will deliver the Emperors judgement, but it is up to you to deliver the final blow," Sergeant Balkis voxed.

As Rikhen and the Rapotr's Claw descended on the Ork Warboss and his retinue of Nobz, Rikhen voxed to any remaining members of his strike team, "Only in death does duty end.  For Corax and the God Emperor, we are death!"
